Her friends describe her as bubbly and unique, as she considers herself loyal, creative and hilarious. April McLennan has come to Utrecht all the way from a small rural town in Tasmania, Australia where she was born and raised on a dairy farm. When April first stumbled upon the Europe in the World programme, it instantly became a goal of hers and had to apply. April describes it as an “amazing opportunity to learn more about the EU.”

Before moving to the other side of the world, April studied a bachelor of media. She has worked in newsrooms at Agfest (Tasmania’s biggest rural and farming festival), also in radio with the opportunity to man her own show, and was editor and a feature writer for TOGATUS, her home university’s magazine.

April loves travelling and has been all over the world. Elephants, the culture and the beautiful people make Laos April’s favourite place to visit so far. Although well travelled, this is April’s first time in the Netherlands and it is all she imagined it would be and more.

April is still deciding what she would like to do career-wise, but by the end of this course, she knows she will gain a solid understanding of both the EU and the world. She will also be able to confidently interview people and most importantly produce quality journalistic work. April loves the idea of both broadcast TV and writing and so has a world of opportunities ahead of her.
