Circular Ocean Creates Circular Economy

How pulling nets out of the sea becomes more than just that

Approximately 8 million tons of plastic enter the sea each year. Does all of it just get left in the oceans?

The EU funded project, Circular Ocean, joins recycling with business innovation. By removing plastic nets from the oceans and joining with entrepreneurs who create something new from these materials Circular Ocean has created a new circular economy.

Funding for Circular Ocean is slated to end in September 2018, but its participants hope to see a continuation of the actions that have been put into place.

“Further funding is being looked into to expand on what has been achieved during Circular Ocean.” – Nina O’Hanlon.
